Dear fans, friends, family, and basketball enthusiasts,
Today, as I stand before you, I am filled with a mix of emotions. It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from the game of basketball. Basketball has been my life, my passion, my everything. From the streets of Hampton to the bright lights of the NBA, this game has given me more than I could have ever imagined.
I want to thank the Philadelphia 76ers organization for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to showcase my talents on the biggest stage. To my coaches, teammates, and fans in Philadelphia, thank you for your unwavering support and love. The memories we created together will forever hold a special place in my heart.
To the city of Philadelphia, you embraced me as one of your own, and for that, I am eternally grateful. The passion and energy you brought to every game fueled me to give my very best every time I stepped on the court. Thank you for being the best fans in the world.
As I look back on my career, I am filled with pride and gratitude. I may not have been the biggest player on the court, but I played with the heart of a lion. I left everything I had on the hardwood every single night, and I hope that my passion for the game inspired others to do the same.
Basketball has taught me valuable lessons that extend far beyond the court. It has taught me about perseverance, teamwork, and the importance of never giving up on your dreams. I hope that my journey from a kid with a dream to an NBA superstar can serve as a source of inspiration for the next generation of ballers.
As I close this chapter of my life, I am excited for the new opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. While I may be hanging up my sneakers, my love for the game will never fade. Basketball will always be a part of who I am, and I look forward to staying involved in the sport in different capacities.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this incredible journey. I am truly blessed to have had the career that I did, and I am grateful for every moment I spent on the court. To my fans, thank you for being the wind beneath my wings. I may be retiring from basketball, but my love for the game will never die.
Thank you, and God bless.
Sincerely,
Allen Iverson
